Innsbruck, the capital of Tirol, Austria, has been host to multiple international figure skating events. These include: The 1964 and 1976  Winter Olympic Games, 1981 European Championships, 2004 Winter Universiade, ISU Junior Grand Prix in 2011 and the First Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2012.

Innsbruck has not only been host to such events; it is also here that we welcomed many firsts to the history of figure skating. At the 1976 Winter Olympics, Ice Dance became an Olympic discipline. Another introduction to Olympic events came in 2012 at the Youth Olympic Games. The team event was tested and eventually included in the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.

The Olympic Skating Arena of Innsbruck is proud to host the ISU Cup of Tyrol-Innsbruck. The Union Eislaufschule Innsbruck (ESI) is honoured with the opportunity to run an ISU event in a city with such rich figure skating history. The first ISU Cup of Tyrol was presented in 2016. It continues to be a pleasure for ESI, the Tyrolean Skating Association, and the Government of Innsbruck, to make it an annual event for single and pairs skating in all categories.

ESI is proud that ISU Cup of Tyrol-Innsbruck is primarily funded by the City of Innsbruck, Government of Tyrol, as well as the Austrian Figure Skating Association.
